Vlog Post

This week we're making Vlogs! I decided to kill two birds with one stone and make a video about sewing, so I can use it for my personal blog, sewsewgood.blogspot.com.
My handsome and talented husband was my cameraman, and I added a few little bells and whistles for your enjoyment.
And now, your feature presentation:

  1. Cynthia,
I enjoyed watching your Vblog about how to repair a damaged pair of pants. I do sew but I haven't done so in many years. I have a brand new sewing machine that's been in it's box since I purchased it over 10 years ago. I didn't know about ironing on the interfacing prior to doing the repair.

My only suggestion to improve your presentation would be to provide more light and zoom in more on what you are doing. The part where you're ironing on the interfacing was hard to view as well as the actual sewing of the zig zag stitching. It was informative and I learned something new today. Great job.

  2. Thanks, The lighting in my room is horrible. If I had more time to sew I'd probably get a few of those daylight lamps. We just used my camera phone, which doesn't allow zoom while you're filming. If I were to do this on a regular basis, I'd probably invest in some better lighting and a better camera.
As for the interfacing, I thought of that when my husband complained about those iron-on patches from JoAnn's causing some serious discomfort when I patched up some of his pants. It's so much more lightweight, though, so they don't last very long.

  3. I think that you did a really good job at your vlog. This was very helpful to me. I don't know a lot about sewing but I have always wanted to know. I think this was a good strat for me.

  4. This was great, Cynthia! My husband's jeans come apart in "that area" a lot and I have been unable to patch them in a way that would be more comfortable...excellent topic; thank for sharing!

  5. I looked at it on your sewing blog as well and see you've some pretty decent, well-lit photos there of other techniques. Lighting is a must if you're to continue this and yes, you might have to go for a small point & shoot camera as zoom would be very important for details. I love that you did this tip as a video though and I think it's a nice addition to your sewing blog.

  6. Cynthia, I really liked your vlog! The music and credits were really fun! I agree with the lighting and zoom, but since I also used my phone for the video, I completely understand the limitations! Well done!
